| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a stylized rampant lion facing left, rendered in the bold, angular relief characteristic of late 12th-century Brabantine hammered coinage. The beast displays a raised forepaw and a flowing mane suggested by deeply struck lines. The design is contained within an irregularly shaped flan typical of the period, with the surrounding field showing the characteristic flatness of hand-struck medieval deniers. No legible legend is present on this side. |

| Reverse description | A bold cross pattée occupies the center of the field, with a large pellet or globule placed in each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross, a design motif common to Brabantine deniers of the late 12th and early 13th centuries. The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with four additional annulets or small rings positioned at the cardinal points between the legend and the inner circle. The Latin legend surrounding the design reads HENRICVS DVX, identifying the issuer as Duke Henry I of Brabant. |
