| Obverse description | Central field displays the shield of Luxembourg bearing a rampant lion to sinister, rendered on a barry (horizontally barred) ground in the medieval heraldic tradition. The shield is depicted in low relief typical of hammered coinage of the period. The design fills the flan with bold, angular lines characteristic of 13th-century Luxembourgish moneying. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the central device, bounded by a beaded inner circle. |
