Obverse description Central field displays an archiepiscopal cross surmounted by a decorative arch or mitre-like structure in low relief, typical of early 13th-century French ecclesiastical coinage. The design is rendered in the crude, flat style characteristic of hammered medieval deniers. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, separating it from the peripheral legend. The coin exhibits the irregular flan and uneven strike common to hand-hammered production of the period. Surface shows significant wear and darkened patina consistent with extended circulation.
