Reverse description A bold pattée cross occupies the central field, its arms extending to a beaded inner circle that divides the legend. An annulet appears in one quadrant and arrow-like or fleur-de-lis ornaments are placed in the opposite quadrants, creating a heraldic symmetry typical of medieval episcopal deniers. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin script reads + CIVITAS LAVSAN, identifying the city of Lausanne. The coin is struck on an irregular hammered flan, consistent with billon coinage of the early fifteenth century.
