The legend BENE-BENTV is distributed in segments around the cross in the field, reading partially clockwise and counterclockwise. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border. The iconography reflects the strong Byzantine cultural influence prevalent in the Duchy and later Principality of Benevento during this period. |
