(Translation: Grimoald.)
Reverse description Central device consisting of a tall patriarchal or archiepiscopal cross set upon a stepped base, with the Greek letters alpha (Α) and omega (ω) suspended from the crossarms, referencing the divine epithet of Revelation. The legend BENE-BENTV is distributed in segments around the cross in the field, reading partially clockwise and counterclockwise. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border. The iconography reflects the strong Byzantine cultural influence prevalent in the Duchy and later Principality of Benevento during this period.
