The span covered by this denier crosses two archiepiscopates — Giselmar's brief tenure and Hartwig's longer hold on the see — making precise attribution within the type genuinely difficult without die analysis. Hartwig in particular was a figure of considerable political friction, his relationship with the Salian court under Conrad II deteriorating markedly after 1027.
