Beschrijving voorzijde A bold cross pattée occupies the central field, its arms extending toward the coin's periphery and terminating in decorative wedge-shaped finials. Four smaller cross pattée motifs are positioned in each quadrant between the arms of the central cross, with circular pellets filling the remaining interstices. The design is executed in a flat, archaic hammered style typical of early medieval Hungarian coinage, with no legend present.

Aanvullende informatie

Géza II ruled during one of medieval Hungary's most turbulent periods of external pressure, navigating simultaneous military commitments against Byzantine forces in the Balkans while hosting a substantial influx of Saxon settlers in Transylvania — the latter a deliberate demographic policy with consequences that outlasted his dynasty by centuries. Hungarian royal deniers of this reign are notoriously difficult to attribute with confidence; the multiple Huszár references reflect genuine scholarly disagreement over die groupings rather than simple variety collecting. The 0.23g weight places this at the lighter end of Árpád-era silver, consistent with a gradual debasement trend visible across mid-twelfth century Hungarian issues.
