| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by the stylized monogram of Count Fulk III, composed of interlaced letters in a bold, angular Carolingian manner characteristic of early medieval feudal coinage. The monogram is rendered in high relief against a flat field, with the interlocking letterforms clearly articulated despite the crude hammered execution. A Latin legend encircles the monogram along the periphery, reading clockwise from a cross pattée. The overall style reflects the transitional workshop traditions of the Angevin mints in the late tenth and early eleventh centuries. |
