| Beschrijving voorzijde | Quartered shield bearing the arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, divided into four fields by a plain cross; the upper-left and lower-right quarters display a horizontal bar, while the remaining quarters are plain. | Aanvullende informatie |
Friedrich IV von Emmerberg held the archbishopric during a period of sustained friction between Salzburg and the Habsburg dukes, with territorial disputes repeatedly threatening the see's autonomy. These small silver deniers were the workhorse of local exchange in the Alpine valleys, struck in quantity but surviving poorly — the combination of low silver content and heavy use left most examples badly worn or corroded.
