Additional information

Friedrich IV von Emmerberg's tenure as Archbishop of Salzburg was defined less by ecclesiastical ambition than by a grinding fiscal struggle with the cathedral chapter and the city's burghers. His small silver issues circulated in a region where Habsburg pressure on Salzburg's autonomy was already tightening — a squeeze that would eventually cost the archbishopric meaningful political independence within a generation. CNA#A63 is among the thinner-documented types in the series, with surviving specimens appearing infrequently enough that die linkage studies remain incomplete.
