| Obverse description | Crude hammered bust of Duke Frederick facing left, wearing a diademed or wreath-like crown rendered in a simplified Ottonian style. The portrait is executed in low relief with broad, schematic facial features characteristic of 11th-century Lotharingian coinage. The surrounding field is largely flat and unadorned, with the circumferential legend FREDERICVS DVX partially visible around the bust.
