Reverse description Stylized depiction of a cathedral or church facade with two lateral wings or towers, presented within a beaded square frame, surmounted by a crown or finial at the apex. The architectural rendering is highly schematic, consistent with the Romanesque artistic conventions employed on Hohenstaufen-era imperial coinage. The legend, invoking the sanctity of Charlemagne (Sanctus Karlus), encircles the beaded square, referencing Frederick II's veneration of his Carolingian predecessor. The die work is bold but irregular in execution.
