(Translation: Saint Peter. Pope Formosus.)
Reverse description A complex cruciform monogram of Emperor Guy (Guido) of Spoleto, composed of interlocking letters in a bold Carolingian style, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The monogram is formed around a central cross element with projecting arms, rendering the letters of VVIDO in an interlaced arrangement. A surrounding legend reads ROMA ✠ VVIDO IMP, identifying Rome as the mint and Guy as emperor. The overall design follows the Carolingian imperial monogram tradition established under earlier Frankish rulers.
