| Aanvullende informatie |
Ernest (Ernst) ruled Bavaria-Munich jointly with his brother William III following the partition enforced by their father John II in 1392. The Munich duchy's deniers of this period reflect the fractured political reality of the Wittelsbachs, who subdivided their territories so aggressively through the fourteenth century that by 1400 there were four separate Bavarian duchies operating simultaneous mints, each issuing small silver in their own name.
The BM-7.1 variety classification places this piece within Emmerig's Bayern catalogue, the standard reference for this notoriously difficult series.
