| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts a rampant lion passant guardant within a beaded inner circle, rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the period. A small mint mark, likely the letter P for Poitiers, appears below the lion in the field. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin script reads ED PO GnS REG AnGL P, abbreviating the title of Edward, Prince of Aquitaine and firstborn son of the King of England. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of hammered medieval issues, with portions of the legend occasionally weak or off-flan. |
