Reverse description A plain cross pattée is depicted at the centre, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A small crown ornament is placed in one of the angles formed by the arms of the cross, a heraldic device identifying the ducal authority of the issuer. The field is otherwise plain. The surrounding legend in uncial Gothic lettering reads DVX AQITAnIE, meaning Duke of Aquitaine, running between the inner beaded circle and the outer toothed border.
