(Translation: King Edward...)
Reverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a plain cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quarters, with the letter G appearing in one angle of the cross, serving as a mint or workshop initial. The cross extends to the inner circle, a layout consistent with Aquitainian deniers of the period. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin characters reads DVX AQVITANIE, affirming Edward III's title as Duke of Aquitaine. The flan is irregularly shaped with some weakness in the strike at the periphery, as is common for hammered issues of this type.
