Obverse description The field depicts a majestic effigy of Charlemagne in high relief, shown full-length holding a sceptre and orb, set against an architectural background with a coronation scene featuring bishops and courtiers. Two gilt replicas of the Carolingian denier of 781 are displayed in relief on either side — the obverse (left) bearing the Carolingian monogram and the reverse (right) featuring a cross — with the legends ORDRE TRAVAIL above and CULTURE below, flanked by the inscriptions DENIER and 781.

Reverse description The field features a composite heraldic design centred on a Gallic rooster within a circular medallion, surrounded by multiple shields bearing fleurs-de-lis, surmounted by a royal crown with radiating rays above.
