| Obverse description | Central voided cross with wedge-shaped terminals divides the field into four quarters, each containing a small pellet or lozenge ornament. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central cross motif. The circumferential legend, rendered in an archaic Romanesque hand, reads CA LM AN RE (Cálmán Rex, meaning King Kálmán) and is separated from the central design by the beaded border. The overall style is characteristic of early Hungarian hammered silver deniers of the Árpád dynasty. |
