| Reverse description | Central field displays a plain Latin cross with splayed terminals in high relief, set within a beaded inner circle. The four quadrants formed by the arms of the cross are open and flat, consistent with standard Carolingian denier typology. A circular legend naming the mint of Tonnerre surrounds the beaded circle, introduced by a cross pattée. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, characteristic of hand-struck Carolingian silver issues. |
