The monogram is executed in the raised relief typical of hammered Carolingian deniers, with a prominent vertical shaft surmounted by an arched element and flanked by lateral strokes. A circular Latin legend reading NEVERNIS CVITΛI (City of Nevers) surrounds the inner beaded circle, preceded by a cross pattée stop, and runs to the irregular outer rim of the flan. |
