| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central field features a plain Latin cross with equal arms, contained within a beaded inner circle. The cross arms extend to the inner border, dividing the central area into four equal quadrants, a standard Carolingian reverse type. The encircling Latin legend LVGDVNI CIVIS, meaning 'City of Lyon', identifies the mint and runs between the beaded inner circle and the outer rim. The flan is irregular and slightly flan-cracked at the edge, consistent with hand-hammered Carolingian silver coinage of the ninth century. |
