Denier - Charles II Langres mint

The Edict of Pîtres, issued by Charles II in June 864, was among the most sweeping monetary reforms of the Carolingian period — it restricted minting rights to a limited number of royal and ecclesiastical centers and mandated the recall of older coinage. Langres, a cathedral city with deep Gallo-Roman roots, was among the authorized mints under episcopal control. These deniers are a direct product of that reorganization, not a continuation of earlier practice.
