| Beschrijving voorzijde | Within a beaded inner circle, a plain cross with a pellet placed in each of the four angles occupies the central field, a design characteristic of Carolingian regal coinage. The cross arms extend to the beaded border, dividing the surrounding legend into four segments. A Latin circular legend naming the king runs between the beaded circle and the irregular hammered rim. The flan is of typical Carolingian fabric, showing slight irregularity and weak areas consistent with hand-hammered production of the ninth century. |
