| Popis líce | Central field displays a Carolingian monogram composed of interlaced letters forming the royal cipher of Charles, executed in high relief with bold, angular strokes characteristic of ninth- and tenth-century Frankish hammered coinage. A plain cross pattée is superimposed over the monogram, dividing the inner field into quadrants. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which the circumferential Latin legend reads in capital letters. The entire composition is typical of the Gratia Dei Rex series introduced under the Edict of Pîtres (864), attributable to the Paris mint. |
