| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by the Carolingian royal monogram, formed by the interlaced letters of KAROLVS in a bold, stylised cipher typical of Carolingian coinage, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The monogram is rendered in high relief with clearly articulated strokes. A circular legend in Latin capitals runs between the inner beaded circle and the coin's irregular periphery, reading the royal titulature. The overall design follows the standard Carolingian denier fabric established by the Edict of Pîtres (864), with a flat, unadorned field. |
