Reverse description Central field bears a plain Greek cross in high relief, its four arms of equal length extending nearly to the beaded inner circle that frames the design. The cross divides the inner field into four equal quadrants, left plain on this type. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner beaded circle, naming the mint city, and runs to the irregular outer edge of the flan. The lettering is in bold Carolingian capitals consistent with the obverse style. The overall composition is characteristic of the standard Carolingian civic mint reverse type.
