Beschrijving voorzijde Central field features the Carolingian royal monogram of Charles II (Carolus), composed of interlaced capital letters set within an inner beaded circle. The monogram is rendered in the characteristic Carolingian style with bold, angular strokes typical of ninth-century Frankish coinage. Surrounding the inner circle, the outer legend reads GRATIA D-I REX, introduced by a cross pattée, identifying Charles as king by divine grace. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with a beaded outer border, consistent with hammered technique of the period.
Schrift voorzijde Latin

Beschrijving keerzijde Central field displays a plain Latin cross with slightly splayed terminals, occupying the full width of the inner beaded circle. The cross divides the field into four equal quadrants and is rendered with clean, bold strokes characteristic of Carolingian ecclesiastical coinage. An inner beaded circle separates the central motif from the surrounding legend, which reads OSTEVNIS CIVITAS, introduced by a cross pattée, identifying the mint city of Autun. The outer border is beaded, and the irregular flan displays typical characteristics of hammered silver production of the mid-ninth century.
