Reverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a bold pattée-style cross occupies the central field, its arms nearly reaching the inner border. A single pellet is placed in the second quarter of the cross, serving as a distinguishing mintmark or countmark. The surrounding outer legend reads PROENCIE, identifying the issuing authority of Provence, with letters separated by small ornamental stops. The overall style is consistent with feudal hammered coinage of southern France in the mid-13th century.
