Obverse description Carolingian royal monogram of Carloman II occupying the central field, formed by the interlaced letters C, R, L, M, and N in the characteristic Carolingian cipher style, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The monogram is rendered in bold, slightly irregular raised relief typical of ninth-century hammered silver coinage. A Latin legend surrounds the beaded circle, reading clockwise from a cross pattée. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with hand-cut silver planchets of the period.

Reverse description A bold plain cross with slightly splayed arms occupies the central field, contained within a beaded inner circle. The cross divides the interior into four equal quadrants, all left plain. The Latin mint legend surrounds the beaded circle, reading clockwise from a cross pattée, identifying the Troyes mint. The overall execution is typical of Carolingian ecclesiastical-civic coinage, with robust lettering on an irregularly shaped hammered flan.
