| Beschrijving keerzijde | Plain long cross with expanded terminals occupying the entire central field, dividing the reverse into four quarters, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cross is boldly struck in high relief and serves as the principal device, consistent with Carolingian denier typology. The surrounding circular legend reads +CΛSTIS IIΛND✜N, identifying the mint of Château-Landon, rendered in large Carolingian capital letters with characteristic lunate forms and a cross pattée as an introductory stop. A second cross pattée appears in the outer field to the left of the legend. The flan is irregular with a slightly ragged edge, characteristic of hand-struck Frankish silver coinage of the late ninth century. |
