| Obverse description | A heraldic lion passant, rendered in a bold Romanesque style, occupies the central field within a beaded inner circle. The lion is depicted in profile facing left, with a stylized scaled or mail-like body treatment and a prominent curling tail raised over its back. A partial Latin legend surrounds the inner circle within the outer rim, partially legible due to the irregular flan typical of bracteate coinage. The design is struck in high relief on a thin silver flan, characteristic of North German bracteate production of the early thirteenth century. |
