Obverse description Half-length frontal bust of a bishop presented in orans-like posture, holding a crozier in one hand and a book (Bible) in the other, set beneath a double-arched canopy with angled gables. Above the figure, the façade of a Romanesque cathedral with a central tower flanked by two smaller towers is rendered in stylised relief, characteristic of medieval German bracteate die-cutting. The composition fills the broad, thin flan to the inner border, with the architectural and figural elements merging in the compressed single-sided relief typical of 13th-century Magdeburg ecclesiastical coinage.
