Wenceslaus II inherited the Bohemian throne in 1278 following the death of his father Ottokar II at the Battle of Marchfeld, though real power remained with the regency of Otto of Brandenburg for much of the following decade. These thin, single-sided bracteates were the workhorse currency of the Bohemian economy before Wenceslaus's sweeping monetary reform of 1300, which introduced the Prague Groschen and effectively retired the bracteate tradition in Bohemia altogether. Cach 861 is among the smaller module types in the late bracteate sequence.
