Obverse description Central field features a bold cross pattée with flared, slightly concave arms, set within a raised inner ring or annulet border. The arms of the cross display characteristic Romanesque stylization, with the lower arm terminating in a small volute or curl. Between the arms of the cross, four small trefoil or pellet ornaments fill the angles. The abbreviated legend S-I-F-R-I-D, referencing Abbot Siegfried, is distributed around the outer field between the inner ring and the beaded or plain outer rim, in Gothic-influenced Latin capitals typical of late 12th- to early 13th-century Saxon ecclesiastical coinage.
