| Obverse description | Single-sided bracteate struck in thin silver sheet, displaying a crowned heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Palatinate-Simmern in relief, surrounded by a plain inner field. The design is characteristic of small German Pfennig bracteates of the late sixteenth century, with the initial 'R' referencing the reigning count Richard of Simmern.
