Beschrijving voorzijde Uniface bracteate struck in thin silver. The central field features a crowned figure, likely the enthroned or standing effigy of Margrave Ottokar II, rendered in low relief characteristic of Moravian bracteate coinage of the mid-to-late 13th century. The figure appears draped and crowned, with stylized limbs extended to either side, set within a plain raised border ring that frames the sunken central motif. The design is bold and schematic, consistent with the artistic conventions of Central European bracteate production of this period.

Aanvullende informatie

Ottokar II of Bohemia held the Margraviate of Moravia as part of his expanding dominion, and bracteate deniers of this period reflect the fragmented minting authority across his territories — multiple workshops operating with loose oversight produced considerable die variation within ostensibly unified issues. Cach 983 falls within the years bracketing Ottokar's ultimately fatal conflict with Rudolf of Habsburg, a rivalry that ended at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278, where Ottokar was killed. Production of this type ceased with that defeat.
