Ottokar II ruled Moravia as part of his broader Přemyslid dominion while simultaneously holding Bohemia and, at his peak, controlling territory stretching to the Adriatic. These bracteates were struck during the period when he was consolidating his position against Rudolf of Habsburg — a rivalry that would end at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278, where Ottokar was killed.
