Additional information

Ottokar II ruled Moravia as part of his broader Přemyslid dominion while simultaneously holding Bohemia and, at his peak, controlling territory stretching to the Adriatic. These bracteates were struck during the period when he was consolidating his position against Rudolf of Habsburg — a rivalry that would end at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278, where Ottokar was killed. The date range of this issue terminates there precisely.

Cach 977 places this among the medium-module bracteates of the Moravian series, distinguished from the larger and smaller denominations by die characteristics documented by František Cach in his foundational Czech medieval numismatic corpus.
