Denier Bracteate - Ottokar II medium

Ottokar II ruled Bohemia at the height of its medieval power, controlling territory stretching from the Adriatic to the Baltic at his peak — a domain larger than any contemporary German prince. These thin, single-sided bracteates were struck during the period of his most aggressive territorial expansion, and production effectively ended with his defeat and death at the Battle on the Marchfeld in August 1278, where Rudolf of Habsburg dismantled the Přemyslid empire in a single afternoon.
