Ottokar II ruled Bohemia at its greatest medieval extent, at one point controlling territory from Silesia to the Adriatic — a domain larger than any contemporary German prince. These bracteates were struck throughout that expansionist reign, a period when Bohemian silver from the Jihlava mines was among the most abundant in central Europe. The single-sided fabric was already archaic by western European standards when these were issued, a persistence of local minting tradition rather than technical limitation.
Cach 805 places this squarely within the middle-weight range of the type, distinct from the lighter issues that dominate later in the reign.
