Reverse description Incuse mirror image of the obverse, as is standard for bracteate coinage struck on a single thin silver flan. The reverse displays the characteristic concave impression of the obverse design, showing the frontal bust and the eagle motif in negative relief. The thin, irregular flan exhibits typical hammered bracteate fabric, with the design pressed through to the reverse side. No independent reverse design or legend is present.

Additional information

Odon Mieszkowic ruled Greater Poland during one of the most fractious periods of Piast dynastic politics, when the senior princes of fragmented Poland frequently minted their own bracteates as acts of local authority rather than commercial necessity. At 0.18 g, these thin single-sided strikes were poorly suited to long circulation — the type survives today almost exclusively in hoard contexts, pulled from the ground rather than worn through trade.
