| Beschrijving keerzijde | As a bracteate, this coin is struck on a single thin flan from one die only, producing a mirror-image incuse impression on the reverse corresponding to the obverse design. The reverse therefore shows the same facing bust and surrounding border elements in negative relief, inherent to the bracteate technique. No independent reverse design or legend is present. |

Mieszko III ruled longer than any other Piast duke — twice, with a long exile in between, finally restored in 1198 only to die in 1202. These bracteates were struck during his contentious second tenure over Greater Poland, a period marked by constant baronial resistance and shifting alliances among the fragmented principalities left by the Statute of Krzywousty in 1138. Attribution to either Gniezno or Kalisz remains unresolved; both mints were active under Mieszko, and die linkage studies have not yet produced a clean separation.
