Denier Bracteate - Mestwin II Gdańsk mint

Mestwin II spent much of his reign maneuvering between the Teutonic Knights, the Margraves of Brandenburg, and the Polish Piasts — a political balancing act that ultimately ended with the Treaty of Kępno in 1282, where he designated Przemysł II of Poland as his heir, effectively ceding East Pomerania's future to the Polish crown. The Gdańsk mint operated within this contested sovereignty, producing thin bracteate deniers that reflect the regional striking tradition of the southern Baltic rather than any imperial standard.

Kop. 214 is among the more localized of Mestwin's issues, attributable specifically to Gdańsk on die-style grounds rather than documentary evidence.
