The Hebrew inscription appears in reverse as an incuse impression. The surface is characteristically plain and slightly concave, consistent with single-die bracteate striking technique, with the thin silver flan exhibiting a slightly uneven texture typical of hand-hammered medieval coinage. |

Leszek the White's tenure over Kraków was interrupted twice by forced exile — first in 1198 and again during the political upheavals that plagued the fragmented Piast duchies in the early thirteenth century. Bracteates of this mint and period were struck on foil-thin flans, a technique adopted across Central Europe partly to economize on silver at a time when Polish ducal revenues were chronically unstable.
At 0.13 g, these are among the lightest struck coinages of medieval Poland, and losses through handling were so routine that even lightly circulated survivors are uncommon.
