Denier Bracteate - Leszek the White Kraków mint

Leszek the White's tenure as Duke of Kraków was repeatedly interrupted — he was expelled from the duchy at least twice, once in 1202 and again following the Battle of Zawichost in 1205 — making the attribution of his bracteate coinage to specific issue periods genuinely difficult. The absence of Kop. and Stronczyński numbers reflects an ongoing cataloging problem: Polish bracteates of this period survive in small numbers and were rarely documented systematically before the 19th century, by which point many specimens had already dispersed into private hands without provenience records.
