Obverse description Frontal bust of Duke Leszek II the Black depicted in a schematic, Romanesque style, wearing a helmet and holding a sword upright in the right hand. The figure is rendered in bold relief characteristic of bracteate coinage, with the face shown frontally and the body in a rigid, hieratic posture. Surrounding the central effigy is a beaded inner border, within which fragmentary Latin legend elements are distributed around the field. The irregular flan and thin fabric are typical of Polish bracteate deniers of the late 13th century.
