Obverse description Bracteate type struck on a thin flan, displaying the episcopal arms of Bishop John V Flugi of Aspermont: a shield charged with three swan heads turned to sinister, arranged in heraldic fashion. The design is enclosed within a beaded (pearl) circle, with the abbreviated legend IEC disposed around the shield in the field. The overall style is characteristic of late medieval Swiss ecclesiastical bracteate coinage, with the design in relief on one face only.
