| Beschrijving voorzijde | Within a beaded inner circle, a crowned rampant lion facing right in high relief, characteristic of the Brunswick heraldic tradition. The lion is depicted with stylized mane and raised forepaws, rendered in the bold, shallow-relief bracteate technique. Surrounding the central motif, a radiating outer border composed of elongated beaded or reed-like projections encircles the entire design, creating a sunburst or petal effect at the coin's periphery. The field is otherwise plain, with no legend or inscription. The overall design is typical of mid-thirteenth-century Lower Saxon bracteate coinage issued under Duke John of Brunswick-Luneburg. |
